I spotted this 1986 El Camino Conquista that looked just like mine on the freeway yesterday. He caught me snapping pictures as he drove past me. It sounded so nice. He ended up exiting the same exit I took and I ended up stopping in the parking lot at James Coney Island where he parked. I walked up and told him I loved his truck and asked if he’d like to see photos of the same truck, totaled.
He showed me around his El Camino and told me that he made his tail lights himself, added the GM logo to the right fender and painted the Chevy emblem on the back like the Texas flag. He said he needed the window felts and I told him that I totally had them brand new in the plastic at home. That I was never able to install them on my El Camino. He offered me $100. I offered him a free heater core too.
He had me sit in it. His El Camino fit me like a glove. It was still cool inside from the AC.
I missed it.
